Extending Through the Ball

A common fault of golfers is to collapse the arms just after making contact with the golf ball, which in turn prohibits you from extending through the ball. This is typically caused sometimes by a lack of body rotation or you trying to lift the ball into the air versus hitting down on the ball. Extending Through the Ball is a simple thing to correct in your swing that can immediately make a difference in your golf game.
As you view the first photo, notice the golfer’s arm positions. His front arm is bent after the club moves through impact, causing his hands to stay close to his body while his left-hand almost comes completely off the club. This position and the lack of extending through the ball is a sure sign of poor contact, loss of power, and errant shots.
Now take a look at the second photo and notice my arms are extending through the ball, from the start of the swing to the follow through position. This allows to keep control of the golf club to hit the ball farther and straighter, while allowing your body to stay balanced.
If you want to play better golf, make sure you are extending through the ball as your swing reaches its follow-through position.
