Is Competition Becoming Your Competition?
Is Competition Becoming Your Competition?
If you and your child are currently “on tour” playing events that you both enjoy, Is Competition Becoming Your Competition? In other words, is the enjoyment of playing these events being overshadowed by the details of choosing and scheduling these times?
How do you choose which events to play? Which tournament series offers your Junior Golfer the ability to showcase their skills while at the same time provide a healthy environment? How do you keep the other aspects of your life sane? When is Competition Becoming Your Competition too much to handle?
There are more and more Junior Golf competitive tours and events popping up everywhere. Some organizations do a great job of making things fun while balancing fun with the importance of being competitive. As you go about planning events for your Junior Golfer, keep these suggestions in mind:
• Do your research and choose events that match your Junior Golfer’s experience and skill levels
• Challenge your child appropriately; there is nothing wrong with having them play in an event that may have more advanced players then them competing. Kids and adults for that matter tend to play better while playing with better players.
• Be careful with the number of events you plan for your Junior Golfer to play. You want your Junior Golfer to feel good about themselves and their game. Playing too much or playing too little can jeopardize those feelings.
Is Competition Becoming Your Competition when planning yours and your Junior Golfer’s experiences? Only you and your Junior Golfer can determine that. And only the two of you can prevent this phenomenon from happening.
